LURE ROD (CUSTOM RODS AND GRIPS) by Henry Haneda

The idea behind every Archistrial MM rod is to successfully blend a wide variety of characteristics into a single rod. Through our innovative designs, we have combined seemingly opposed qualities to create rods of exceptional character and performance. All of our rods are light weight yet remarkably strong with soft sensitive tips and strong powerful butts. Our rods are made to provide pleasure and performance throughout a spectrum of line lengths and fighting loads.

BIONOMICS 2500S GRIP FOR SPINNING  RODS (2022)

Many of the lure fishing rods that use spinning reels on the market have many problems with how to connect the reel and grip, and it was generally difficult to set it in the ideal reel mounting position. In addition, there are many things that are not suitable for firmly fixing the reel so that it does not shift, and the fixing part called the reel foot of the reel connection part also has dimensional differences depending on the manufacturer, so even if you tighten the fixing ring with force There were many drawbacks such as loosening immediately. I have never seen a good fixing method. Also, depending on the fixing method, the fixing tightening ring is circular, so when you grasp the grip, the ring causes discomfort to your fingers. The biggest problem with regular grips is that many of them have a circular cross section, so with such grips the grip rotates in the angler's hands to accurately cast the lure where the fish are. Because it was hard to hold, it was difficult to grasp it firmly, and as a result, inaccurate casting was likely to occur.

To remedy these shortcomings, we changed the reel fixing method to our own system and anatomically analyzed the grip of the circular cross section, resulting in the discovery of the ideal organic form. It is composed of a very complicated curved surface and guarantees stable holding during casting, and at the same time, it succeeded in creating a very efficient BIONOMICS 2500S grip with no loss of power even when fighting with fish. ..

Last year we launched the Bionomic 4000 Grip for differently shaped bait casting reels, further expanding the possibilities of sport fishing on spinning rods as well. We are convinced that these grips should be a gospel for international casting athletes who hit the target accurately and can perform a stable cast with high accuracy.

However, from the beginning, Haneda realized that the human body was not so simple that it could form a straight line and that many harmful effects were hidden. The biggest problem seen with blank through grips is that the reels are mounted and set on the top of the shaft, which makes the top of the rod extremely heavy and biases the center of gravity, so they have the reels on the opposite side (bottom). They tried to balance it by attaching a housing on the side with a built-in gearbox to move the center of gravity. As a result, the crank handle also moved to the bottom and fell considerably below the shaft center axis. However, contrary to their intention to improve the balance, the reel with the gear mechanism has a very large lower part and the balance of the reel itself has deteriorated. In the case of Bionomics Grips, the center of gravity of the reel can be mounted near the extension of the central axis of the shaft, making it possible to design the lightest and most compact reel. As a result, the crank handle can also be placed at the side position of the central axis of the well-balanced shaft, which enables functional design as an ideal rod.

Furthermore, since the Bionomics Grip does not penetrate the shaft, it is possible to correct the eccentricity of the grip, so when gripping, the center lines of the hand and arm can be aligned on the center axis of the shaft. As a result, the Bionomic Grip significantly reduces the strain on your wrists, arms, and shoulders, allowing you to cast for long periods of time without difficulty. Not only that, because the shaft does not penetrate, the position of the gripped finger can be aligned with the central axis of the shaft, and it is easy for the dent of the palm of the hand and the finger to come close to each other, resulting in large grip strength. Has an increasing effect. This has the advantage that even people with weak grip strength will have the effect of firmly gripping.

In many of Haneda's inventions, the one adopted in 1990 was a bench-off shaft mounting method for angle correction that brings the central axis of the shaft closer to the central axis of the reel and another one was the thumb rest for stabilizing the thumb.   Unique human-centered design that incorporates many mechanisms not found in other companies, such as a unique variable reel setting mechanism that can adjust the mounting position of the reel, back and forth according to the length of the thumb that operates the fishing line control actually adopted in 2000.

At first glance, this product has a very crafty impression, but it is actually the result of scientifically rigorous research and anatomical analysis of the human body and repeated experiments in more forms. Here, we adopted a processing method that is easy to get used to as a woodworking craft without showing off high-tech technology. The metal is duralumin 6000, 7000, and extra super duralumin, and the bolts are made of stainless steel. The coating used cashew lacquer collected from cashew trees. The only petroleum-based material was a nylon washer. All the metal is reusable, the wood is a carbon dioxide containment, and I think the product will be used for decades, just like any other product. All of our products have been used for a long time since the beginning of '76, and many products are still used in various situations without losing their value.

The Wood Info.

Amboyna  :

Amboyna burl is one of the rarest & most expensive woods in the World.
The interlocking grain causes considerable problems, particularly when planed to produce smooth surface. The different density and hardness zones can only be machined with the greatest care, appropriate to the value of this wood, to achieve an expert degree of perfection.

African Blackwood   :

African Blackwood is considered to be among the hardest and densest of woods in the world.   This wood is very expensive, on par with true ebonies such as  Gabon Ebony.

This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices, but is reported by the IUCN as being near threatened. Technically it doesn’t meet the Red List criteria of a vulnerable or endangered species, but is close to qualifying and/or may qualify in the near future.

Koa  :  Hawaian Koa

Color can be highly variable, but tends to be medium golden or reddish brown, similar to  Mahogany.

With the tree endemic to Hawaii only, and with supplies dwindling, Koa is likely to be rather expensive. Also,  boards of highly figured and/or curly Koa can command fantastic prices.

This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices, and is reported by the IUCN as being a species of least concern.

Mauser Birch  :

This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Birdseye + Curly Maple  :

This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Myrtle  :

Heartwood is light brown to gray or olive. Sapwood is lighter and is a pale brown color.       it’s usually fairly expensive, and is mostly used for decorative/ornamental purposes.    This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Pau Ferro   :   Bolivian Rosewood, Santos Rosewood.

This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices, and many of the species within the Machaerium genus are reported by the IUCN as being of least concern.
